My husband and I lived in a warm, tropical climate for many years and when the sun became too much for us we moved to higher ground with slightly cooler temperatures on the side of Haleakala Crater on Maui. A story for another day, but as magical and amazing as that experience was I would day dream about even cooler temperatures and getting back to the mountains. It wasn’t just the 4 seasons we were after, we both wanted to ski more and I dreamed of living in a place where I could layer, wear boots, coats and sweaters. There is something so cozy and romantic about living in the mountains and of course having a change of seasons.
We love living in our mountain town and as of yesterday we have snow! It is officially “shoulder season” and a great time to go through last years coats, boots, hats and gloves and see what is needed before winter is in full swing. This time of year I love to look for fall/winter pieces to add to my wardrobe that will compliment what I already have. I am loving the textural pieces this fall as well as the color palettes and wanted to share with you a color board I’ve put together to help you style this chesnut, brown, blush, gold look.
• Felt, flannel
• Faux fur
• Handbags and shoes with a small amount of metallic accents
• Dark brown is truly a classic but if you already have garments in this color (coats, handbags or boots) try mixing in this seasons cinnamons, mochas, chesnuts and other lovely hues. These compliment darker chocolate browns nicely.
• Metallic colors: we all have plenty of cooler metals such as silver. It is time to add in rose gold, yellow gold, brass, bronze and other warmer metallics.
